Authors tagged have to answer 10 questions about their work in progress (WIP) and post links to 5 other blogs of authors participating in the hope. Here’s mine:
Name: Dane Love, M.D.
Marital Status: Single
Resides In: Kahala, Hawaii.
Tall, blond, blue-eyed and desperately seeking a way to get his housekeeper’s daughter out of his house, and out of his blood. No luck, so far. Will keep you posted. Coming to a Kindle near you December 21, 2012.
What is your working title of your book? Doctor, Doctor
Where did the idea come from for the book? I’m acquainted with three hunky doctors who fuel a lot of women’s fantasies. But, from working in the medical field, I know that doctors work very long hours and aren’t always hard-chargers in the partying scene.
The male lead, Dane Love, is a millionaire bachelor, a doctor who has everything he could want at 37 years of age—money and a luxury Hawaiian estate by the ocean. He rarely takes the time to enjoy it, and while his practice is thriving, his villa, and his love life, are ignored.
The people who see him on a regular basis are his housekeeper and her son, who’s also the pool and maintenance guy. A family emergency has his housekeeper leaving her daughter, Audrina, in charge of cooking Dane’s meals and tidying up his place. Seeing his housekeeper’s beautiful daughter strutting around the place is making the doctor want to spend a hell of a lot more time at home!
What genre does your book fall under? Contemporary (sensual) romance.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? Chiseled hunk Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of Game of Thrones with his wild, fair looks. The actress to play Audrina would have to be an actress with a certain sweetness of look about her, Rachel Bilson or an older Demi Lovato? Mila Kunis?
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? Her brother stole his painting, now the hunky M.D.’s gonna steal her heart.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? Indie published under my imprint, Littlemoon Press.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? Over a year.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? Eeee, drawing a blank right now… Let’s see, I think other series romances with a maid/millionaire theme could apply. The basic premise is how a person who seemingly has less can teach someone who seemingly has more how to let their hair down and have a little fun. And vice versa 🙂
Who or what inspired you to write this book?My mother. She’s an interesting lady, who, without a high school diploma manages to own a condo in Hawaii, and various other pieces of real estate. She worked at Dole Pineapple Cannery for many years before she retired, and whenever I’m home in the island running errands with her, it seems we always run into someone she knows, in addition to all the family we have in Hawaii. She speaks in broken English, yet she’s so friendly she can talk to anyone, from company CEO’s to the vendors in Chinatown. She doesn’t let language barriers keep her from communicating.
The heroine’s mother, Luana, shares many cute qualities with my momma.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? Doctor, Doctor is Book 2 book of my Island Moonlight Collection and, like Book 1, Bargain Bride, Billionaire Groom, the story takes place on a Hawaiian island. While BBBG pulsed with heart and emotion, this story has a sexy, flirty beat to it, in addition to some heartburn that comes from a supporting cast of quirky family members.
The hero is also a dark blond hunk with blue eyes, who has Hawaiian blood (it totally happens). It’s a humorous, tropical take on the housekeeper/millionaire bachelor theme, complete with a trouble-making sibling, karaoke night, and a cross-dressing cousin.
